"The View"

We were in the audience on "The View" today. It will be on television on September 4th. Check it out. We were in the 4th or 5th row center. I had a turquoise shirt on and Cory had a striped shirt on. Then while Outkast was performing we were by the left side of the stage. Who knows how much camera time we got. The show was a lot of fun. The hosts: Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasselbeck,
and the celebrity co-host was Danika Patrick. Diane Lane was also on the show. It was cool getting to be in the audience and see how everythings works.

Pier 63

Tonight we went out for dinner then we went and hung out at Pier 63. It was a beautiful night. The picture just doesn't capture what you see in person. I am excited for the "View" tomorrow. They will not be taping live shows from August 4 to September 4th so I think that the show we will be on will be on TV sometime during that period. September 5th Rosie will be on the show. Next Sunday I am going to be a paid hair model for the Wella Studios. A stylist from Canada is coming to do the hair show. I do not know what I will look like but it will be stylish.

Sunday in Manhattan 7/30/06

This is a picture I took down at the Radio City Music Hall. We haven't been inside yet, but I like looking at it! Nothing too exciting around here the past few days. On Friday I signed up to be a volunteer at a yoga studio. This way I will be able to go to yoga classes! Friday night Cory, John Paul (Joe's brother), and I went to Pier 63 on the Hudson. It is a really cool place to hang out. On Saturday we were out and about around the City. For an hour it rained really hard and then it stopped. The weather is sure different over here. Today we went to Glad Tidings Church again. We really like it. Tomorrow we are going to be on the "View." The musical guest is "Outkast." I don't know when it will air on T.V. I thought they aired live but we aren't taping until 2pm.

July 25th

Across from the post office is Madison Square Gardens and you can see the Empire State Building in the background.

The Post Office right by our house is open 24/7. It is still hard for me to believe that a Post Office exists like this. I will miss it when I go back home to the regular Post Offices'.
Here is Nate Bruce's favorite author and his memorial bookshop.

For dinner we ate at Better Burger. It is "better" because they use everything organic. Cory had the chicken burger and I had the beef.

Our after dinner stroll was up to Times Square. The tourists sure do stay up late.

Am I Crazy?

Yesterday (Monday, July 24th) I decided to run up to Fairway Market (a grocery store that is supposed to be unlike anyother) on 74th and Broadway. When I got there I looked around and while it was different, it wasn't so different I was amazed. I decided to buy a watermelon. What you should know is that I have been craving watermelon ever since we arrived in the city. I bought a cup of cut up watermelon for $2 on the street, and I have bought 1/4 of a melon for $.69/lb at the store a few blocks away. But at Fairway market they had it for $.45 and seedless for $.49/lb. I couldn't resist this deal so I picked out a whole watermelon to buy. I thought that it would be a good workout for me to carry home. It ended up being 24.7 pounds which cost me $11.12. An eleven dollar watermelon. Am I crazy? How much do they cost in Hanford? Lemoore? Well, the walk home wasn't fun. Then it took me a long time to cut it up and pick out all of the seeds. The good things is now we have a refrigerator full of juicy watermelon. Was it worth it? Yes! Will I do it again...No. Next time I will not buy so much.

What happened this weekend

It is about 1:00am on July 24th over here in New York. Cory found this awesome artwork on our block. I haven't blogged much this weekend so I will give you a recap of some of the things that we did. On Friday I went to the Upper West Side for a job interview with a tutoring company. It went well, but now I have to wait until the school year for jobs to start coming in. Cory is going to be a tutor. He will be tutoring a Korean girl with her english grammer on Mondays and Wednesdays.
On Saturday we went for a long walk around the city. Our favorite stop was at the Chelsea market. It is inside the old Nabisco factory that used to make Oreos. It is filled with lots of bakeries, little food places, a produce market, kitchen accessory store, a store that sells everything Italian, and our favorite store. Our favorite store has fun gifts to look at and the best part is they always have fun food samples to taste. It was a great place to get out of the rain on our way home. It has been raining on and off again for a while. We don't mind because it cools the weather off.
Sunday we went to church on 33rd street at a Glad Tidings. It is a very friendly church. It was our second sunday there. We really like the preaching. We spent the rest of the day around town and at home working. Cory is hard at work on the Garrett movie. We watched the movie United 93 tonight. I cried alot. It also made me miss everyone back home. I love you all very much. Never forget that.

The Theatre

For dinner we went to F&B (European Street Food). We have coupons for "buy one meal get the other one free". That means for $8 we got one vegi-healthy dog (hummus, carrots, olives), one vegi-prairie (guacamole, cheese, olives), green bean fries, sweet potato fries and two freshly squeezed lemonades. Can you say delicious? We can!

Joe works at a theatre and he got tickets for us to see a show. It was called "Mickey Mouse is Dead." We were about a foot away from the actors and it was a good show even though I kept
nodding off. Cory's elbows helped!
We walked down Madison Avenue to get home. I love looking at all of the expensive shops.

Myspace and Comedy

Cory got paid $50 to participate in a Myspace test group. It only took one hour and the event was catered. It was on the 17th floor of the Empire State Building. Afterwards we went to the SummerStage in Central Park to watch the Upright Citizens Brigade performance. After the show we went to Mamoun's falafel.

Cory and Annie's wedding pictures

Andrew Stiff our photographer has put our wedding pictures online. There are about 400 different pictures in different sizes and some our black and white so there are over 1000 pictures. The pictures are web compressed so they are not great for printing. He will be sending me a full size dvd copy of the prints which are good for printing or we can contact him and he can order prints online. Have fun looking at them.

Dinner Party: New York Style

Joe and his girlfriend Jessica came over for dinner from Brooklyn. They brought me my first apartment flowers! Everyday I walk by the corner flower stand and now they are in our apartment! After dinner we walked to Billy's Bakery for cupcakes. After Billy's Joe and Jessica went back to Brooklyn and Cory and I went to the 11pm UCB show.

Slick Rick

Slick Rick is back!

We attended a Slick Rick concert near Times Square. It was great.

Slick Rick is Cory's favorite rapper of all-time. Slick Rick came on stage in his usual get up: an eye patch and plenty of jewelry. He put on a great performance.

He was nice enough to sign Cory's record sleeve and give him an autographed eye patch. Afterwards we were walking home and decided to stop in at
Gray's Papaya. They have the best hotdogs and papaya juice. You get two hotdogs with all of the fixings and a papaya juice for $2.75.

Friday the 14th

July 14th, 2006

Cory got a "gig" for today. From 3 to 11 he will be working as a production assistant for a film crew. Not only that but he has a bit part. It was filmed in New Jersey so Cory got to go to the other side of the Hudson.

While Cory was at work I went and ate my lunch by the lake at Central Park.

After the park I went home to do our laundry.

FREE HAIRCUT

Free Haircut
A hair cut is always free if you do it yourself. I only helped Cory with the back.

Soho Rooftop Party!

Soho Rooftop Party!

A surprise birthday party for Christopher. The party was in Soho on a roof top. Christopher is one of Joe and Jessica's friends. Now he is our friend. They served hummus, pita, carrots, deviled eggs, chips and salsa and drinks. It was a great party! After the party was walked home. It was 1am but lots of people were out.

Walking down 30th street from our apartment

Big buildings and taxis are what we see see when we leave our apartment. We love to walk around the city.

Cory and Annie in Central Park

Cory and I waited on the sidewalk for 3 hours to get tickets to see Macbeth in Central Park. Every summer the park puts on Shakespeare in the park for free but the catch is you have to wait in line the morning of the show. It was fun and we will do it again for the next show!

A few apartment pictures

Apartment Pictures
Our bed, closet, fridge, stove and our big bird! Notice our 18" carpet squares.

The subway map, fireplace mantle and bookshelf, black table on extra carpet squares, small set of drawers, and night stand.

Fridge, stove, counter and sink, and the cute green bench we found. You can't see it well here but we have the cutest vintage tea cups underneath the shelves.

We are in New York

We have been in New York for a few weeks now and we love it!
