A Clear, Sun Shining Day

Today was such a beautiful warm spring-like day. I started my morning off with yoga class. My friend took a picture of me after class trying to do the new pose that we learned. After yoga, I went on top of the building to check out the views.
We met up with Bill and Joan in Central Park later in the day. There were a lot of people out because of how wonderful the day was and because of today being Columbus Day. This was the last stop in New York for Bill and Joan before they head off to their next destination. I think that Bill and Joan are the ones who need to be blogging. They are leading a very exciting life right now. The most exciting things for me and Cory usually have something to do with squirrels (which reminds me that we have a ton of squirrel pictures we are saving up for you all). Oh, wait a second. Cory and I will be going to Carnegie Hall on Wednesday night to see Randy Newman perform, and I think that is pretty exciting. So, family and friends, what exciting news do you all have for us?

Bill and Joan's Excellent Adventures

Uncle Bill and Aunt Joan arrived today in Manhattan. Bill is Cory's grandfather's youngest brother from Colorado Springs. Bill and Joan have been travelling around the East coast in the R.V. for a few months now. We got to hear about a few of the many exciting cities they have been to. We are glad that they decided to stop in New York. They left the R.V. about 45 miles away and they took a bus into Penn Station. Penn Station as you might already know is only a few blocks from our house. We all had coffee together and took a walk to the Hudson River, then we dropped them off at one of the tour bus stops. They will be seeing the city on top of one of the many big red double-decker buses. We will be meeing up with them again tomorrow during their second and last day in the city. They came at just the right time because we are having beautiful weather in the Big Apple.

Rice To Riches

Last week while David was here we went out for rice pudding at "Rice To Riches". It is a very cool place. We got the chocolate chip flavor. It was hard to choose because they have so many different flavors.
Well, not much has been going on over here. Which is why I haven't blogged for a few days and it's why I am using old pictures today.
It is turning into fall over here. Yesterday was really cold. I have heard that fall is a beautiful time of year in New York.
I have been taking a lot of yoga classes this week. I would like to go five times a week but a more realistic goal is three to four times a week. When I get back to Hanford I want to lead yoga classes with all of my friends and family. So, get ready for a good relaxing workout!

Roosevelt Island

On Monday, Cory and I went for a walk to H & H Bagels. They are located on 11th Ave and 46th Street. They really do have the best bagels we have ever eaten. It was also a beautiful day for a walk. After the bagel shop we headed east towards the opposite side of Manhattan where Roosevelt Island is. Roosevelt Island is a small island between Manhattan and Queens. On our way to the subway (there is only one train that stops on the island), we passed by a huge cool looking statue. This is what I will look like when I am pregnant. We sure our enjoying our life over here in New York. I am glad that we are not tied down with any big responsibilities. Well, we made it to the Island after riding on the subway which was the deepest subway we had ever been on. We had to ride an elevator when we got to the island. The elevator door opened and we were suddenly in what felt like a whole new world, but it isn't far away at all. We walked around the island for a while and made our way to the main street. It looked just like a college campus. Not because of the people but because of the layout and the buildings. We found "The Thriftstore" (make no mistake, it is "The" only thriftstore on the island) and I bought a nice, red pyrex bowl for a dollar. To get back to Manhattan we took the air tram. It provides you with a great view of the island and of manhattan. We will definitely go back to the island when we want to get a way from the fast city life here in the Big Apple.

A flying squirrel and lots of pizza

Friday morning I woke up early for yoga class. You won't believe what happened when I got outside...a squirrel almost landed on my head! It fell from the top of our building and hit my leg before it hit the ground. I thought it was going to die right there, but it just shook around for a while until it ran and fell again into a window alcove of a basement apartment. It eventually got out with the help of the landlord. We almost had a squirrel! I was just too afraid to grab it.

After yoga I went home to shower so I could meet David and Cory who were in Union Square. We met up and did some shopping. I bought green polka dotted rain boots. Here I am infront of Two Boots pizza shop. Cory and I both got a slice of pizza. It was really good. Susan Bringard told me that when she was in New York, Two Boots was her favorite pizza. For dinner we went out for pizza at Lombardi's (David of course got his vegan style). This is where pizza was invented in 1905. It is ranked as the number 1 pizza place in New York City and it lived up to it's ranking. This was the best pizza we have ever eaten.

David had to leave early this morning. It was great having him here.

A New York Night

Today, Cory got paid to be in the audience of "Judge Maria Lopez." He got a lot of reading done and was entertained by the court room antics. While he was listening to the dramatic court cases, I was running errands and taking a nap (I had some catching up to do). Then, I had my two Wednesday evening tutoring sessions. When I got home from tutoring we ate dinner, watched an episode of the Sopranos and then headed out onto the town. We stopped for a cup of tea at the Chocolate Bar. Can you believe I went to a chocolate bar and ordered a tea? Their tea is unlike other teas I have ever seen. I ordered the "coconut black tea". Walking along Spring Street in SOHO we passed Alan Talyor who was walking his dog. He is a director for the Sopranos. We recognized him from the two day shoot we worked on the set of the Sopranos. I asked him if we could take a picture with him and he said that it " would make his night." I stepped back to take the picture and I stepped right into his dog's fresh doodoo. I was too excited to care! He said that there might be some "extra" work coming up and he gave us his email so we can contact him. We continued on our walk after that but we weren't quite the same as when we started the walk. We saw this sign in a store window and we wanted to show it to you. Oh, by the way,Cory saw Ludacris in Virgin Records yesterday.

David's first Day in New York

Cory, David, and I started our New York afternoon off at Jack's World. It is our favorite discount store in New York and it is only a few blocks away. It is like Grocerey Outlet from back home because you
never know what you will find. Today we found our favorite: "meal in a bun." So, we bought 27 packages (27x2=54 meals. In Madison Square Park they werefilming the new Will Smith movie: "I am Legend." We did not see Will, but we saw the stunt car driving through the park. We went to American Apparel so David could take a look around. We walked to Punjabi's Deli for lunch. This is where David wanted to go because he heard they had great food. We discovered, that not only is the food awesome, it is cheap. I am wearing a new hat I bought today and a "Triple Five Soul" sweatshirt Cory found for me. For dessert we headed to Joe's on Waverly for a cupcake made by Amy
Sedaris (of Stranger's With Candy fame). I am going to bed now because I have to get up at 5am. If you need someone to talk to you can call me at 2am California time. David just got back from exploring Central Park. He said that the best part was seeing a giant raccoon
