Pizza and a Cupcake

Yesterday (September 12, 2006) I worked from 7am-2pm. Isn't Cory cute! He took this picture of himself to answer a job ad on Craigslist. At 6pm that night we both had tutoring sessions. His was on 79th and mine was on 57th. We met up with each other and walked home. We decided to go out for pizza! Cory read that John's Pizzeria on Bleeker Street is rumored to be the best in New York City. We decided to check it out. If the line waiting to get into the restaurant is any indication about the quality of the pizza then this pizza is the best! We waited for 30 minutes to get a table then we waited another 30 minutes to get our pizza. Was it worth the wait? Yes! It was really good. I am not saying it is the best New York has to offer, but it is the best we have had so far. We are trying not to compare New York to Me N Ed's pizza from back home but it is hard not to since this is our favorite pizza place of all time. How do they get the crust so thin, flavorful and flaky? Since the pizza joint was on Bleeker we walked down to Magnolia's (one of our favorite bakerys) to get a cupcake to finish the meal with some sugar! What a great night! It was definitely not healthy like drinking green juice but Oh so wonderfu!

Take your Bloggers to Work Day

Green Juice Anyone? I finally took my camera into work to get a few pictures to put on the blog. The first picture is of me in case you forgot what I looked like. I am holding a juice I just made for
myself. In the second picture you can see the juice machines and the produce we use. The third is of the produce isle in the store and the last one is a picture of the front of the juice bar. Do you like the coral paint job on the walls? It was done last night. On the left is the hot deli bar. The center case is for the vegan and raw pies. My favorite pie so far is the vegan berry cheesecake. I think it tastes better than real cheesecake if you can believe that. Then on the right holds the cold deli food and the other desserts and snacks. I hope this gives you a better idea of what my work is like. I hope you all can stop in soon!!!

Beauty

Surprise, Surprise! Cory waited for me outside my work to greet with a beautiful flower. It was a good day to do it too! Work was a little rough for me. After a short rest and two episodes of the Sopranos we walked the whole length of Hudson Street. We ended up at a park that has all sorts of cool looking art.

A Lovely Day in the City

I just had a very nice day today. We didn't do anything crazy or especially cool but first of all the weather was beautiful and I had the day off. I won't bore you with all of the details but I will tell you a few of them.
I picked up my paycheck and did some shopping at Integral with my 25% discount.
I found a cool stamping store. The only store totally devoted to stamps in NYC.
I got another tutoring job for Sunday.
Cory and I had a nice walk up to the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I took alot of pictures of the buildings which I will be showing you on a later blog. The first picture on the blog is of Cory in a really cool candy store. We saw a huge ball in a store window that allows you to walk on water with it because of the cupholder like holes in it.
I needed a new purse and we found a cute one at Daffy's Department store.
Cory had a tutoring session and I went walking around while I waited for him. I walked by a beautiful First Baptist Church building. After tutoring, we went out for dinner at Burritoville. I got the mego soy burrito filled with brown rice, beans, tempeh, soy cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole. It was delicious. Then we got a cupcake at Buttercups. Yummy, Yummy. I wish I could better decribe for you how lovely of a day I had, but I guess you will just have to take my word for it.

Super Blog: Part 2

Tuesday, September 5th marks the day most students go back to school. For me and Cory, this is the day to be an audience member of the "View." Rosie Odonell is the new Co-host for the 10th season of the "View." We had to arrive at the studio at 7:30 so we could check in, wait in a line, sit in the studio, rehearse where we would be standing while Jessica Simpon performed, wait in a room, then finally sit and watch the show. From what we gather, we were seen on TV more from Monday's show than Tuesday's. We enjoyed the show alot. Roshie is funny! When we sat down in our seats before the show we were greeted with a nice gift bag filled with small promotional items. Then, during the show, Rosie announced that the entire audience is getting a free cruise to the Caribbean! That's right, a Cruise. We have never been on one. It is a two night preview cruise from May 7-9, onboard Royal Caribbean's newest ship: Liberty of the Seas. Our lease ends May 6th, so it is a trip marking our one year of rent in New York. It takes off from New Jersey, so will will be extending our lease for at least another month. On the walk home, Cory found a bunch of decorations in a dumpter in front of a seafood restaurant. Lots of lobsters and real starfish.

Super Blog: Part 1

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

I worked at Integral Yoga from 1pm to 9pm. While I was at work, Cory was walking around New York. He has been looking very hard for a new pair of shoes and decided that I would go with him on Monday but he so happened to find a pair on Sunday. He wanted to see how they match up to the city, so he went on a long walk. He went all the way tothe middle of the Brooklyn Bridge. On the way home he saw Kevin Bacon and wife, Kyra Sedgwick. The pair on the left are the ones he bought on Sunday. He got the Clark Sandals on Tuesday after tutoring.

I wanted to watch the "View" to see Cory and me in the episode that we taped 3 weeks ago. We do not own a TV, so I went down to the gym. Each piece of cardio equipment has its own TV screen. I saw us about 10 times! It was fun seeing us on TV. I got on the subway to go home but I realized I left my keys at home. I'm locked out! Cory is down at Trader Joes. This wouldn't be a problem, except I had a tutoring appointment to get to. I called my tutee to let him know
and push it back an hour to give me more time. When Cory got home, the guy I was supposed to tutor called and pushed it back 3 more hours. This gave me and Cory plenty of time to watch twoepisodes of the Sopranos. After tutoring, Cory and I headed to Brooklyn for a party at the guys' house. Brooklyn celebrated Caribbean day. I hadn't heard of it, but 3 million people apparantly had. I was astonished at the streets. They were so filled with trash it was creepy. We really like our Friends in Brooklyn. On the way home we took the subway to 42 street/Grand Central Station. It was my first time in the station and it definitely lives up to its name. It is so "Grand," it's unbelievable. We didn't get to bed until after 2am. We had a short nights sleep since we had to be up at 6:15 to get to the "View."

Myth Busters

Can you believe my hair used to be one normal color?!? I liked it, but my current hair color is fun. I am waiting for a call from the hair studio for another class to get my hair done again. Today at work I got into a conversation with a customer about eating a "raw" diet. One of the things he told me was cooking with olive oil is bad. When I heard this my heart sank, because I thought cooking with olive oil was the best. He said that when it gets heated it turns into saturated fat/trans- fatty oil. When I got home from work I decided to check this out on Google. Google helped me bust this myth. While cooking with olive oil does change the flavor, it does not change the nutritional value nor does it make it saturated fat or trans-fatty oil. Click here to see one of the webpages I looked at. Now I can sleep peacefully. Cory and I are going to watch episode 1 of season 3 of the Sopranos.
