surfs up

Surfs up on the cruise ship. It was so much fun. If the boys could have they would have surfed all day.

What I a week I had! I survived my first week of my three jobs. Last Monday was my first day at the new school and during the first class they welcomed me by basically blowing up over a few simple rules of mine. The students have since relaxed and are really happy that I am there. At first I felt like a combination of Super Nanny and Wife swap where it's the new moms chance to change things. A student today ran out of class yelling how happy she was because of the experience in my math class. This girl last class was a big problem and I had a talk with her after class. She told me today that the talk worked! This is a girl who has no family and lives in a shelter on 48th street. She said she never gave math a try. It was amazing to see what a little effort does. These students at this school are really neat and I am glad I am there. Keep praying for me because it is a really difficult situation because I feel like I am having to try and fix years of students not being in a decent school system. They are really far behind, yet some students in the same class are way ahead. Currently we are reviewing the basics so we have a good foundation to build on.

KB to the BK

Here Cory is enjoying his functional masterpiece in our backyard. I love our new bench.
Kristian Bringard got into town Thursday morning. He is on a tour of many US cities. Check out his blog about his travels at http://www.dirtbakka.blogspot.com/. All of these pictures you are viewing were taken by Kristian and his camera. Cory and Kristian went thrift store shopping. My husband is hot!!!
Friday evening we had a little get-to-gether. I made yummy burritos. Not pictured is Naomi and Marvin. This picture was taken my Naomi and Marvin hadn't arrived yet. After dinner we went to the local upscale coffee shop on our block for their grand opening party. They had a ton of free food and drinks. They actually have been open for a few months now. It is a great place and we are glad they are so close. It is Marvin's real kitchen!
Cory and Kristian got free tickets to a Mets game this afternoon. They had a lot of fun. Kristian leaves tomorrow afteroon. He is off to sunny Miami.
Tomorrow I will be planning for my first day of school on Monday. I know I need to clarify information about my new job but I'm having trouble because of course it all makes perfect sense to me. I am also very, very tired right now. Please let me know how I can clarify. I still have a lot of cruise pictures to put up but I must do that later.
Love, annie

To the cruise we go

To get to the cruise we had to use almost every form of transportation (especially Dennis). A car to the airport, plane to New York, bicycle around Brooklyn, subway to train, train to lightrail, finally we had to walk two miles to the cruise ship. It sounds like a lot of work, but we had a great time. I had a lot of fun taking pictures of the three boys. I was going to make a mega blog with all of the pictures from the trip but my schedule doesn't have time for that right now. That is because I just got a teaching job. I have been interviewing schools for August but this one fired their math teacher a week after my interview. So, I am the new math teacher.
The first picture is of the boys on the lightrail. It was about 9am on Monday. The next picture is of the boys walking in Bayonne, New Jersey out to the tip of the peninsula to the ship.
On the way into the main dining hall was fruit sculptuers. It is a good example of the attention to detail on the cruise ship. The second night on the ship it was really cold outside on the deck.
I'm off to bed now. There will be more pictures tomorrow.

Merry Cruise

We returned safely from the gigantic cruise ship we were on. I have a lot of pictures to put on the blog, but I am having trouble staying awake while the pictures load. So, I will finish it tomorrow.

Our cruise vacation was amazing. I look forward to sharing the pictures and stories with you.

Dennis Bray

Good Evening. Dennis Bray is in town. Dennis, Joe, Cory and I will be on the "View" cruise tomorrow through Wednesday morning. It will be just a "cruise" as we will not be going to any ports. We are very exciting as this is a brand new fancy ship. You can check out the ship at this website. I am sure I will take a lot of pictures. I also have a whole weeks worth of pictures but now I must go to bed. This picture was taken an hour ago on 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Dennis Bray, Will Allen, and Cory Bruce!!!
